Treverbyn Together logoEstablished Cornish building firm Ron Bullock Building Contractors have won a £180,000 contract to renovate and extend Treverbyn Community Hall. The improvement works to this vital venue, funded through SITA Cornwall Trust’s Flagship grant scheme, will see a new mezzanine floor installed and an extension that will provide for new toilet facilities, reception area, stairs to the mezzanine and a ground floor meeting room.

Paul Pethick of Studio and project manager of the refurbishment said “We are pleased to say that  Ron Bullock Builders have won the contract to carry out the works on this community facility.  Ron Bullock Building, who have previously worked on the Renovation of Charles Causley House and the new childrens’ centre at Pondhu, will be starting on site mid April and we expect the project to be completed by the end of October.”

Paul went on to explain, “We have had to scale back our original plans to meet our budget but are pleased to say that we have retained the key elements of a mezzanine floor and extension.  Work will start by securing the site and some partial demolition, foundations dug and then the extension will go up.  The mezzanine floor and roof lights will be installed, existing roof & external walls insulated and electrical, heating and fire safety services upgraded. ”

Suzanne Johns, director of Ron Bullock Building said “We are very pleased to have secured the contract for this project.  As local people we understand how important these facilities are in providing a community centre for a rural population and we will be working hard to ensure this building is one that will provide for generations to come.”

Sara Marsh, a Treverbyn Community Hall Trustee, enthused “We are so excited to see works finally happening.  Our journey started in 2011 and since then many people have been involved in making this happen; the renovation and extension is a testament to their tenacity and really shows just how committed this community is in bringing about positive change.  They should be very proud of themselves.”
