Warleggan Village Hall

CRCC is teaming up with Communities for Renewables CIC  – a social enterprise that helps proactive communities to generate their own energy.  We hope to develop a project which would increase the number of communities in Cornwall generating, owning and saving energy.

By installing solar panels and biomass heating on community buildings we hope, with support and guidance these buildings will ultimately become energy hubs in their local community, acting as the catalyst for a range of other energy initiatives locally. The current idea will see the community building benefitting from the installation of the relevant renewable technology leading to free electricity and reduced bills. It is also anticipated that Community buildings will have the opportunity to bid into a fund created through income from the sale of energy to help with further renovation work.

Where there is local interest in doing more, it is anticipated that a range of other measures could be available. These may include helping individual people to save money on their energy bills, advise on undertaking energy efficiency measures and switching energy tariffs through to supporting  the community set up its own local energy cooperative to generate energy and income from community owned renewable energy.

We want to hear from proactive committees that are interested in solar photovoltaic or biomass technologies and would like to get involved. You can help shape the project and may ultimately benefit from renewable technologies with little or no cost to your building.  To register your interest and find out more please complete a 2 minute survey or alternatively contact us at cpd@cornwallrcc.org.uk.
