The Trustee Induction Workshop provides volunteers with an overview of all the important management responsibilities encountered when running a community building.  Comprehensive resources covering the aspects of hall management will be provided as well as template policies and procedures for a range of issues to help you save a lot of time.  No matter how long you have been on the hall committee, this will be of value to you.

This workshop will cover:

  • Appropriate legal structures pros and cons
  • Relevant Charity Law
  • Understanding your governing document
  • Responsibilities of property management
  • Managing employees and volunteers
  • Relevant insurance policies
  • Appropriate licensing
  • Health and Safety (inc Fire safety and hygiene)
  • Energy conservation
  • Funding projects and improvements
  • Hiring
  • Appropriate accounting

The Business Planning Workshop will help you to set goals based on what the community say they need and plan to achieve them over the next 1 to 5 years.  Understanding what your community needs now and into the future is key to managing a successful community building.  If you can’t provide what a 21st century community requires then your village hall or community centre will not get the use or generate the income required to thrive into the future.  This workshop gives you the tools to ensure you are meeting your community’s needs, providing them with a great service and raising enough income to keep your venue in excellent condition.

This workshop will cover:

  • Aims and objectives
  • Current status
  • Community or ‘market’ need and the potential for demand
  • Financial section
  • Management and organisation
  • Marketing
  • Environmental impact
  • Monitoring and evaluation
  • Action plan
  • Summary section

All the workshops will be delivered by a qualified trainer with more than 10 years experience working with village halls and community centres.
