speed networking

Last Wednesday (22nd July ’15) village hall and community centre volunteers met at Treverbyn Community Hall to discuss funding opportunities, how to attract volunteers, popular activities for community halls and much more.

We would like to thank everyone who attended, we had 33 people there in total from 10 different halls across mid-Cornwall.  We were also delighted to welcome 2 representatives from the Big Lottery.

We broke into 3 groups to discuss various issues that affect community halls.  Following that a quick game of ‘speed-networking’ (pictured above) helped to introduce those that hadn’t met yet.  Very noisy!

Jane Morgan from CRCC’s Get F-IT project publicised their offer which has already been taken up by at least one hall within a week.

The evening finished following a pasty supper and free time for chatting/networking.

Feedback included, ‘good central location’, ‘Informative evening, discussion groups really worked’, ‘Good to talk to others in the same situation’ and ‘lots of information was shared and the opportunity to network was greatly appreciated’.

Thanks to Sara, Lou and their excellent team of volunteers at Treverbyn Community Hall for hosting and helping to run the event.

As the evening was so well received, we are already planning our next event for the autumn.  Stay subscribed to the Vital Venues newsletter for updates.
